Product Description
ASTM A213 T9 Studded Fin Tubes for Fired Heaters
Product Overview

ASTM A213 T9 Studded Fin Tubes for Fired Heaters are high-performance heat transfer components designed for demanding high-temperature service environments, especially in refinery furnaces, petrochemical heaters, and industrial fired heater applications.

The tube base material is manufactured according to ASTM A213 T9, a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel containing approximately 9% chromium and 1% molybdenum. This alloy provides excellent resistance to high-temperature oxidation, creep deformation, and thermal fatigue, making it suitable for radiant and convection sections of fired heaters operating under severe thermal conditions.

Studded fin tubes improve heat transfer efficiency by increasing the external surface area of the tube. Compared with plain tubes, the welded studs create enhanced turbulence around the tube surface, improving heat absorption and furnace efficiency while maintaining reliable mechanical performance during long-term operation.

Our ASTM A213 T9 studded fin tubes are manufactured with strict control of welding quality, dimensional accuracy, and material performance to meet the requirements of critical industries such as refining, chemical processing, and power generation.

Common Applications

ASTM A213 T9 studded fin tubes are widely used in high-temperature heating equipment, including:

  • Oil Refinery Fired Heaters
    • Crude oil heaters
    • Vacuum heaters
    • Reboiler furnaces
    • Charge heaters
  • Petrochemical Processing Units
    • Ethylene cracking furnaces
    • Reformers
    • Hydrocarbon heating systems
  • Industrial Furnaces
    • High-temperature process heaters
    • Thermal processing equipment
  • Hydrogen Production Plants
    • Steam methane reformers (SMR)
    • Hydrogen reforming furnace convection sections
  • Power and Energy Industry
    • Waste heat recovery systems
    • High-temperature heat recovery equipment

Product Features
1. Excellent High-Temperature Performance

ASTM A213 T9 is a ferritic alloy steel containing chromium and molybdenum elements. The material provides:

  • High resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures
  • Improved creep strength under continuous heat exposure
  • Good thermal fatigue resistance
  • Long service life in furnace environments
2. Enhanced Heat Transfer Efficiency

The studded fin structure increases the external heat transfer area and improves gas-side heat exchange efficiency.

Compared with conventional plain tubes, studded tubes provide:

  • Larger heat transfer surface area
  • Better turbulence effect
  • Reduced furnace size requirements
  • Improved thermal efficiency
3. Strong Welded Structure

The studs are welded directly onto the tube surface, ensuring:

  • Strong metallurgical bonding
  • Excellent resistance to vibration
  • Stable performance under thermal cycling conditions

With our humidity and year-round high temps, corrosion resistance and heat transfer are always a concern. These tubes have been performing nicely.

With high firebox temps and some sour gas in the mix, regular carbon tubes don't last. These have been solid.

Good oxidation resistance, matches well with the T9. No scaling or thinning noticed.
