Product Description
ASTM A106 Gr. B Studded Fin Tubes for Waste Heat Boilers
Product Overview

ASTM A106 Gr. B Studded Fin Tubes for Waste Heat Boilers are specially designed heat transfer components used in high-temperature thermal recovery systems where efficient heat exchange and strong resistance to thermal stress are required. The studded surface structure increases the heat transfer area and improves gas-side turbulence, making these tubes suitable for demanding applications such as waste heat boilers, industrial furnaces, and energy recovery equipment.

Manufactured using ASTM A106 Gr. B seamless carbon steel tubes as the base material, these studded fin tubes provide excellent mechanical strength, reliable pressure-bearing performance, and good weldability under elevated temperature conditions. The welded studs create an extended heat transfer surface while maintaining structural integrity during long-term operation.

Our studded fin tubes can be customized according to customer drawings, including tube dimensions, stud geometry, welding requirements, and surface treatment specifications.

Common Applications

ASTM A106 Gr. B Studded Fin Tubes are widely used in industries requiring high-efficiency waste heat recovery, including:

1. Waste Heat Boilers

Used in waste heat recovery boilers to absorb thermal energy from high-temperature exhaust gases generated by industrial processes. The studded surface improves heat transfer efficiency and helps reduce equipment size.

2. Cement Industry Heat Recovery Systems

Applied in clinker cooler waste heat recovery systems and preheater towers to recover energy from hot flue gas streams.

3. Steel Industry Energy Recovery Equipment

Used in furnaces, reheating systems, and process gas recovery units where high-temperature exhaust gases are converted into usable steam or power.

4. Petrochemical and Chemical Plants

Installed in waste heat boilers and process heaters to improve thermal efficiency and recover valuable heat from combustion gases.

5. Power Generation Systems

Suitable for auxiliary boilers, biomass plants, and industrial energy recovery units requiring durable heat transfer surfaces.

Product Features
  • Enhanced heat transfer performance:
Studded fins increase the external surface area and create turbulence on the gas side, improving thermal efficiency.
  • High-temperature durability:
ASTM A106 Gr. B carbon steel provides reliable performance in elevated temperature and pressure environments.
  • Strong stud bonding:
Studs are welded firmly onto the tube surface to withstand thermal cycling and mechanical vibration.
  • Good corrosion resistance in industrial environments:
Suitable for many waste heat applications with proper design and operating conditions.
  • Customizable design:
Tube diameter, stud diameter, stud height, pitch, and arrangement can be manufactured according to project requirements.

With our humidity and year-round high temps, corrosion resistance and heat transfer are always a concern. These tubes have been performing nicely.

The 13Cr pins add some cost, but for sour service in furnaces, it's worth it. Already seeing longer run times between turnarounds compared to before.

With high firebox temps and some sour gas in the mix, regular carbon tubes don't last. These have been solid.
