ASTM A269 covers seamless and welded austenitic stainless tubing for general corrosion-resistant & temperature service, which is ideal as fin tube base tubes.

The low carbon content of 304L stainless steel effectively inhibits the precipitation of chromium carbide after welding. Unlike standard 304 stainless steel, it does not require post-weld solution annealing. It is suitable for environments with condensate, humid fumes, mildly corrosive process gases, and salt spray. It exhibits excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion.
The base tube is cold-formed during fin winding. TP304L maintains good ductility; it has a low risk of cracking under tensile winding loads. Tube-to-tube sheet welding can form a robust joint in most designs without the need for post-weld heat treatment.
The L-shaped spiral wound structure maintains good ductility at low temperatures and good oxidation resistance at continuous operating temperatures up to approximately 350°C.
YUHONG tubes' precise control of the outer diameter and wall thickness ensures uniform fin contact under tension winding, minimizing contact thermal resistance between the fins and the base tube, thus stabilizing overall heat transfer performance.A smooth outer surface improves the bonding integrity of the fins; fewer surface defects reduce the initiation point of crevice corrosion at the bottom of the L-shaped fins.Hydraulic pressure/eddy current testing, flattening testing, and flaring testing ensure the airtightness of the pressurized heat transfer circuit.
Some Key Applications of Carbon Steel Wound L Fin Tubes
Air Coolers (air-cooled heat exchangers, ACHE)
Air Heaters / Steam-to-Air Heat Exchangers
Aftercoolers & Intercoolers for air & gas compressors, others coolers
HRSG economizers & waste heat recovery
Condensers & evaporators for industrial refrigeration
HVAC, Commercial & Industrial Ventilation
J-type wrap on wound L finned tubes are widely used in heat exchange applications with temperatures not exceeding 350°C. They serve petrochemical companies, power plants, natural gas processing plants, food processing plants, and general manufacturing plants. This fin type provides excellent atmospheric protection for the base tube and enables cost-effective production in clean air/gas external media.
