ASTM A335 P9 (1.7386) is an excellent choice for a high-temperature boiler tube when you need oxidation resistance beyond what 2.25Cr (P22) can provide, but you do not require the highest creep strength of P91. However, be prepared for strict welding procedures (preheat + PWHT) and know that its creep strength above 590°C (1100°F) is limited. For supercritical or ultra-supercritical boilers, upgrade to P91.
