ASTM A179 Carbon Steel Embedded G Fin Tubes For Boiler Systems Economizers
Embedded G fin tubes are manufactured via a mechanical cold-forming process that creates a permanent, high-strength bond between the fin strip and base tube—no welding or brazing is used. The spiral "G-groove" is precision-machined onto the outer surface of the base tube. A continuous metal fin is tension-wound into the groove, and then the sidewalls of the groove are cold-rolled/backfilled to firmly lock the fin root. This mechanical interlocking ensures excellent thermal conductivity and resistance to vibration and thermal cycling.
ASTM A179 cold-drawn low-carbon seamless tube is the most popular and cost-effective base tube choice for embedded G finned tubes (especially steel-aluminum embedded G finned tubes, most widely used; cost-effective; ≤260°C).
