1.ASTM A179 Carbon Steel Wound KL Fin Tube


ASTM A179 is a **low-carbon seamless carbon steel** specification dedicated to heat exchanger tubes, renowned for its excellent formability, weldability, and cost-effectiveness. It is engineered for low to medium-temperature service environments, providing reliable structural integrity in general corrosive and thermal cycling conditions. The KL-type finned tube refers to a special fin structure, also known as the knurled finned tube. It involves knurling the base tube before winding the fins, with subsequent blades used for the winding process. Knurling and fin winding can be performed simultaneously. This type of finned tube exhibits high heat transfer performance and low thermal contact resistance.


ASTM A179 Carbon Steel Wound KL-Type Fin Tube integrates the cost advantage of A179 carbon steel with the enhanced heat transfer performance of KL-type wound fins. The winding process ensures intimate contact between fins and the base tube, minimizing thermal resistance, while the KL fin profile optimizes fluid disturbance.

4. L Type VS. KL Type


The L-type finned tube has an operating temperature of 230°C. Characteristics: It utilizes a winding process, which ensures high production efficiency, uniform fin spacing, excellent heat transfer performance, and a high fin ratio. The base tube is protected from atmospheric corrosion.

The KL-type finned tube, also known as the knurled finned tube, has a maximum service temperature of less than 250°C and a maximum service pressure of ≤3.2 MPa. Characteristics: It offers superior heat transfer performance and low thermal contact resistance. The fins have a large contact area with the tube, ensuring tight and secure adhesion. It exhibits excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance and maintains stable performance over long-term use.
