ASTM A179 / ASME SA179 Carbon Steel Seamless Tube Steel Heat Exchanger Tubing

 

 

ASME SA179 is the ASME Code specification for seamless, cold-drawn, low-carbon steel tubes used in heat exchangers and condensers. Made from killed steel with 0.06–0.18% carbon and 0.27–0.63% manganese, it is annealed, has minimum tensile strength 325 MPa and yield 180 MPa, and maximum hardness 72 HRB. It offers good ductility, smooth surface, accurate dimensions, and reliable heat transfer. ASME SA179 is technically equivalent to ASTM A179. It is widely used in shell-and-tube heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, and heat-transfer equipment.
