ASTM B111 UNS C68700 / CuZn20Al2 Aluminum Brass Tube Seamless Copper Alloy Tubing
ASTM B111 UNS C68700/ CuZn20Al2 Aluminum Brass Tube is not a generic "seawater brass" but a delicately balanced, arsenic‑stabilised, single‑phase alloy whose performance hinges on strict control of residual stress, ammonia exposure, and thermal cycling – and its selection is often a compromise between erosion resistance and fabricability/thermal efficiency, rather than an outright upgrade over UNS C44300.
C44300 (Admiralty) vs. C68700 (Aluminum Brass) – Differences:
Composition: C44300 = Cu-Zn-Sn-As (Tin-based); C68700 = Cu-Zn-Al-As (Aluminum-based).
Strength: C68700 is ~20-30% stronger (higher tensile/yield strength).
Corrosion: C68700 has far superior resistance to erosion, impingement attack (high-velocity seawater), and stress corrosion cracking. C44300 is good for general seawater but softer.
Fabrication: C44300 has better cold workability – easier for bending, flaring, and tight-radius forming.

How to Choose the correct brass alloy material?
Choose C68700 if: High water flow rates (>2 m/s), turbulent seawater, elevated temperatures, or power plant/heat exchanger tubes.
Choose C44300 if: Moderate/gentle flow conditions, complex cold bending/shaping is required, or you need a more cost-effective option for standard condensers.
Application
Condenser and Heat Exchanger Tubes in:
Power Plants (fossil fuel, nuclear - for the main surface condenser)
Marine Vessels (shipboard condensers, oil coolers)
Desalination Plants (Multi-Stage Flash and Multi-Effect Distillation heat recovery sections)
Offshore Platforms (cooling systems)
Chemical and Petrochemical Processing coolers.
