Product Overview

ASME SA179 Wound L Type Finned Tubes are designed to maximize heat transfer efficiency in air-cooled heat exchangers operating under moderate temperature conditions. These finned tubes combine seamless ASME SA179 low-carbon steel base tubes with high-conductivity AL1060 aluminum fin strips, which are mechanically wound onto the tube surface using the L Type finning process.

During production, the aluminum strip is first formed into an "L" profile before being helically wound under controlled tension around the outside diameter of the base tube. The foot of each fin completely covers the tube surface, creating continuous metal-to-metal contact while protecting the base tube from direct atmospheric exposure. The result is a lightweight, economical heat transfer component with reliable thermal performance and excellent corrosion resistance in outdoor service.

Wound L Type finned tubes are widely selected for air coolers because they provide an effective balance of thermal efficiency, manufacturing economy, and long-term operational reliability.
