Magnetic Permeability
Fully solution annealed: permeability <1.005 (non‑magnetic).
Cold‑worked (e.g., U‑bending without annealing): can become weakly magnetic (μ up to 1.1) due to strain‑induced martensite? No – 600 is stable austenite, but cold work induces texture and slight ferromagnetism from nickel‑rich phases? Actually, Ni‑Cr alloys remain non‑magnetic, but heavy cold work can increase permeability to ~1.01‑1.02. For nuclear applications requiring strictly non‑magnetic, specify “final solution anneal after all forming.”
