ASME SB163 Inconel 600 (UNS N06600) seamless heat exchanger tube is a specification‑compliant, cold‑drawn nickel‑chromium alloy tube (minimum 72% Ni) manufactured to ASME Section II, Part B, designed for heat transfer service requiring high‑temperature oxidation resistance up to 2000°F, caustic corrosion resistance, and good chloride stress corrosion cracking resistance. It is not suitable for reducing acid environments (sulfuric, hydrochloric) or warm seawater.

Magnetic Permeability

  • Fully solution annealed: permeability <1.005 (non‑magnetic).

  • Cold‑worked (e.g., U‑bending without annealing): can become weakly magnetic (μ up to 1.1) due to strain‑induced martensite? No – 600 is stable austenite, but cold work induces texture and slight ferromagnetism from nickel‑rich phases? Actually, Ni‑Cr alloys remain non‑magnetic, but heavy cold work can increase permeability to ~1.01‑1.02. For nuclear applications requiring strictly non‑magnetic, specify “final solution anneal after all forming.”

Heat exchanger, condenser, and evaporator tubes in:
