Key Characteristics of Grade T9
Oxidation Resistance: Excellent scaling resistance up to approximately 650°C (1200°F) .
Creep Strength: High creep rupture strength due to the Molybdenum addition.
Hydrogen Attack: Suitable for high-temperature hydrogen service in refineries (often used in the hydrogen reformer section and heat exchangers).
Fabricability: While it has good ductility, T9 is a hardenable steel. Cold bending (U-bending) requires careful attention to the bending radius and subsequent heat treatment.
