Product Description

ASTM A213 T11 Serrated Finned Tubes for Economizers

Product Overview

ASTM A213 T11 serrated finned tubes are high-temperature heat-transfer tubes designed for economizers, waste heat recovery boilers, industrial boilers, and other gas-side heat recovery systems. The tube uses ASTM A213 Grade T11 seamless low-alloy steel as the base tube and a serrated fin structure to increase the external heat-transfer surface.

The T11 base tube is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel developed for boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger service. Its controlled chromium and molybdenum content provides the material characteristics required for elevated-temperature applications, while the serrated fin geometry increases the effective heat-transfer area and promotes gas-side flow disturbance.

Our serrated finned tubes can be manufactured to project-specific tube dimensions, fin dimensions, fin material, fin density, tube length, and inspection requirements.

Key Features

  • ASTM A213 / ASME SA213 Grade T11 seamless base tube
  • Serrated spiral fin configuration for increased heat-transfer area
  • High-frequency welded fin attachment available
  • Suitable for boiler economizers and waste heat recovery systems
  • Designed for high-temperature flue-gas heat recovery
  • Customizable tube OD, wall thickness, fin height, fin thickness, and fin pitch
  • Available with carbon steel or other project-specified fin materials
  • Inspection and documentation can be arranged according to project ITP and purchaser requirements

Typical Applications

ASTM A213 T11 serrated finned tubes are commonly considered for:

  • Boiler economizers
  • Waste heat recovery boilers
  • Industrial boiler systems
  • Heat recovery units
  • Flue gas heat recovery equipment
  • Process heating systems
  • Power generation equipment
  • Gas-side heat exchangers

The serrated fin design is particularly suitable where increased external surface area and controlled gas-side pressure drop are important design considerations.

Base Tube Material: ASTM A213 T11

ASTM A213 T11 is a seamless ferritic alloy-steel grade containing chromium and molybdenum. ASTM A213 specifies T11 within its low-alloy steel grades for boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger tubes.

Chemical Composition

Element ASTM A213 T11 Requirement, wt.%
Carbon (C) 0.05–0.15
Manganese (Mn) 0.30–0.60
Silicon (Si) 0.50–1.00
Phosphorus (P) ≤0.025
Sulfur (S) ≤0.025
Chromium (Cr) 1.00–1.50
Molybdenum (Mo) 0.44–0.65
Nickel (Ni) No specified requirement
Vanadium (V) No specified requirement

The chromium-molybdenum composition is a defining characteristic of T11 and distinguishes it from conventional carbon-steel boiler tube grades. Chemical composition is verified against the applicable material standard and reported on the material test certificate.

Mechanical Properties

The typical minimum mechanical requirements for ASTM A213 T11 include:

Property ASTM A213 T11 Requirement
Tensile Strength ≥415 MPa
Yield Strength ≥205 MPa
Elongation ≥30%

No leaks, no fin damage, performance consistent. Heat transfer hasn't dropped, so fouling doesn't seem to be a problem yet.

For power plant boilers, especially in industrial settings like ours, these tubes work. Good heat transfer, holding up well.
