Definition

 

Serrated spiral fin tubes are important parts of advanced heat exchangers, the combination of serrated fins and spiral configurations maximizes heat transfer while maintaining structural integrity.Tube and fin materials may be carbon, stainless steel, copper, ferritic alloy or austenitic alloy steel and can be of similar or dissimilar material combinations.The fin strip is cut or serrated at equally spaced intervals, fins are attached to the tube using high-frequency welding techniques, ensuring strong and durable connections while minimizing thermal distortion.

 

Detailes of ASTM A312 TP304 Base Tubes 

 

ASTM A312 This specification covers seamless, straight-seam welded, and heavily cold worked welded austenitic stainless steel pipe intended for high-temperature and general corrosive service.Welded (WLD) pipe shall be made using an automatic welding process with no addition of filler metal during the welding process.

 

Grades TP304H, TP309H, TP309HCb, TP310H, TP310HCb, TP316H, TP321H, TP347H, and TP348H are modifications of Grades TP304, TP309Cb, TP309S, TP310Cb, TP310S, TP316, TP321, TP347, and TP348, and are intended for high-temperature service.

As an engineer in Siberia, I tested these fin tubes in extreme cold (-30°C). The ASTM A213 T11 steel performed well with no thermal cracks, and cooling efficiency met expectations (88%). That said, the Russian-language documentation had translation errors in technical terms, causing minor confusion during installation.
