The "H" is for Heat – Specifically, a Thermal Process
While people know "H" stands for "high-temperature," the specific requirement is often overlooked:
It's Not Just Chemistry: To be legitimately called 800H, the material must be solution annealed at a minimum temperature of 2100°F (1149°C). This isn't just for stress relief; it's to achieve a specific ASTM grain size of 5 or coarser.
Application
