Product Description

ASTM B111 C68700 Low Finned Tube For Heat Exchanger in Marine Applications

An ASTM B111 C68700 Low Finned Tube is a high-efficiency heat exchanger component made from a specific corrosion-resistant copper alloy. Its defining characteristic is the addition of thousands of small "fins" rolled directly out of the tube's outer surface, which significantly increases the surface area available for heat transfer.

1. Tube Material: ASTM B111 C68700

(1) Chemical Composition

The table below shows the standard chemical composition for C68700, which is consistent across all product forms.

Element Percentage (%)
Copper (Cu) 76.0 - 79.0 -2-5
Zinc (Zn) Balance (approx. 20%) -2-3
Aluminum (Al) 1.8 - 2.5 -2-5
Arsenic (As) 0.02 - 0.10 -2-5
Iron (Fe) ≤ 0.06 -2-5
Lead (Pb) ≤ 0.07 -2-5

(2) Mechanical Properties

Temper Tensile Strength (MPa) Yield Strength (MPa) Elongation (%)
Annealed (O61) 345 min. -9 / 360 -2 125 min. -9 / 80-90 -2 50 -2
¼ Hard (H02) 450 250 25
Hard (H04) 600 540 10

2. Fin Tube Type: Low Finned

The fins are not separate pieces attached to the tube; they are "integral," meaning they are cold-rolled from the base tube material itself. This process creates a tube with a much larger external surface area compared to a plain tube, which dramatically improves its ability to transfer heat.

In essence, an ASTM B111 C68700 Low Finned Tube combines a proven, corrosion-resistant material (Arsenical Aluminum Brass) with an efficient surface-enhancing design (integral low fins) , all manufactured to a strict industry standard (ASTM B111) . This combination makes it a highly effective and durable component for demanding heat exchange applications.

3. The advantages of ASTM B111 C68700 Low Finned Tube

Enhanced Heat Transfer

Superior Corrosion Resistance

Structural & Mechanical Integrity

Economic Efficiency

4. Core Applications

Application Area Specific Uses Key Benefit / Why This Tube is Used
Power Generation Surface condensers and cooling systems in thermal, nuclear, and geothermal power plants. Withstands high-velocity cooling water and provides reliable, long-term performance.
Marine & Offshore Shipboard condensers, seawater cooling systems, and offshore platform heat exchangers. Exceptional resistance to seawater corrosion, impingement attack, and erosion-corrosion .
Desalination Evaporators and heat exchangers in seawater desalination and saltwater treatment facilities. Handles the highly corrosive nature of saltwater and brine effectively.
HVAC & Refrigeration Evaporators, condensers, and chillers in large central air conditioning and industrial refrigeration systems. Compact size and high heat transfer efficiency are crucial for these systems.
Chemical & Petrochemical Heat exchangers in processing plants, oil coolers, and systems handling aggressive media. Suitable for corrosive environments and provides efficient thermal management.

It's hot and humid here, and our old wrap-on tubes used to rust like crazy. Switched to your extruded ones—the aluminum fin covers the steel pipe perfectly, so corrosion shouldn't be an issue.

It's genuine 321H — titanium-stabilized, so no worries about sensitization or intergranular corrosion during welding. Our welder said it welded nicely with no cracking.

For power plant boilers, especially in industrial settings like ours, these tubes work. Good heat transfer, holding up well.
